The Malaysian political scene is heating up with the 14th General Election looming ever closer. The current leader of the Opposition coalition and former Prime Minister, Tun Mahathir Mohamad is throwing himself in the limelight for all the wrong reasons in a bid to win over the Malay voters and take over Putrajaya.
Almost every political speeches or statements that Tun Mahathir has issued out ever since his comeback into the Malaysian political scene has been very abrasive and full of animosity towards the current Prime Minster, Dato’ Sri Najib Razak. From Johor to Penang, all the way to Sabah and Sarawak, the message that he carries with him as the current leader of Pakatan Harapan (PH) is loud and clear; it is a message of hate and vengeance. There is no substance or clear direction on how he (and PH) will ‘Save Malaysia’ besides political hatred and rhetoric.
Tun Mahathir is so driven by hatred that he has thrown aside his principles to exact his revenge towards Najib Razak and his own former political party, UMNO by conniving with his (once) most hated adversary and harshest critic, Lim Kit Siang (DAP). He even went as far as to falsely come to terms with his former-enemy-cum-ally and opposition leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in a political ploy to win over Malay voters.
This move clearly demonstrates how shallow, opportunistic and desperate Tun Mahathir is in making sure BN loose the next GE. It’s safe to say that Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, DAP, PKR and PAN are merely his puppets and stooge to further his personal vendetta and agenda. On the flip side, DAP, PKR and PAN are using him for the sake of grabbing the Malay swing voters to take over Putrajaya.
After 22 years in office, we can hardly say that Tun Mahathir has retired from politics. He has been actively playing the puppet master in orchestrating the fall of Tun Abdullah Badawi in 2009 simply because Tun Mahathir didn’t ‘like’ him. Now he is picking a fight with Najib Razak and UMNO over the same petty personal reasons.
The melodrama played by Tun Mahathir and his political puppets is clear for all to see. He has no intention whatsoever in trying to ‘Save Malaysia’. At 91, Tun Mahathir is blinded by hatred and is spreading hatred and anger to the masses. The aftereffects of this enmity will have a prolonged and negative impact on the younger generations, not to mention damaging repercussions to the country’s image, economy and wellbeing.
Malaysians are smart. Malaysians are no fool. Malaysia is a peaceful country built on compassion, tolerance and harmony. Would you want a vengeful and selfish person like Tun M as our 7th Prime Minister?
